The neighbourhood is filled with young, urban professionals and families, as well as baby-boomer professionals.

Shopping
This neighbourhood has a range of boutiques and furnishing stores, as well as a wide selection of restaurants, brew pubs, and bars along Mainland, Hamilton and Homer. The downtown shopping as well as Chinatown is also close by.

Recreation
The neighbourhood's highlight is the False Creek Seawall, as well as indoor pursuits at BC Place Stadium, GM Place, The Plaza of Nations, and Science World as well as the city's various performance theatres. Downtown also has a selection of movie theatres and nightclubs along Granville Street.
