South Cambie

South Cambie is a small neighbourhood, between Oak and Cambie streets from West 16th Avenue to West 41st Avenue. The community is home to three major hospitals: British Columbia Children's, Women's, and St. Vincent Hospitals. The northern stretch of Cambie is alive with retail activity, and the south of King Edward (25th Ave) Cambie Street has a beautiful boulevard with large trees between the two sides of the road, which is called the "Cambie Heritage Boulevard" that continues all the way to Southwest Marine Drive.

South Cambie is about 10-20 minutes from downtown Vancouver, and will shortly be getting three SkyTrain stations on the new Canada Line to Richmond and Vancouver International Airport, at West 12th Avenue, King Edward Avenue and at West 41st Avenue.

Homes
The neighbourhood consists mostly detached single family homes, with some low-rise apartments and condos along 15th and 16th Avenues. The northern stretch of Cambie and Oak Streets (south of King Edward) are lined with 4-storey apartments, with small shops and restaurants on the ground levels.

Shopping
There is an abundance of shopping along Oak and Cambie Streets north of King Edward Avenue, as well as at the neighbouring Oakridge Centre -  south Vancouver's largest shopping mall.

Recreation
The neighbourhood has a number of small parks scattered around the community. To the east there is Queen Elizabeth Park and the adjoining Riley Park. Queen Elizabeth Park is home to a Conservatory, Pitch & Putt, lawn bowling, curling club, swimming pool and the Nat Bailey (AAA Baseball) Stadium. Riley Park has a community centre, an ice arena and an indoor pool. To the west lies the VanDusen Botanical Gardens. The Langara Golf Course is nearby to the south.

Schools
The neighbourhood is served by four elementary schools and Eric Hamber Secondary School, with two libraries nearby. The neighbourhood is close to Langara College on West 48th Avenue to the south, while the East Broadway area is full of post-secondary institutions, including BCIT's Great Northern Way campus and Vancouver Community College's King Edward campus.
